-CD to root of volume using \\?\Volume{GUID}\ not working

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-CD to root of volume using \\?\Volume{GUID}\ not working

Post by *seb- »

See Discusstion about Support for \\?\Volume{GUID}\[/url]

When trying to browse to a mounted volume using the \\?\Volume{GUID}\ Path, total commander does nothing.

When changing the path within TC to e.g.

\\?\Volume{GUID}\Existing_Subfolder\

TC can display the folder directly.

It is also possible to go on directory level up again into the root (working in 8.01 final at least) with [..]

Clicking on Refresh (or using Ctrl+R / F2) will show an error message that

"access is denied on file \\?\Volume{GUID}\!"

(giving the option to cancel or try again as administrator)

Reproducible on two machines, in version 8.01 and 8.51a

So only the direct CD to the root directory of a volume using this path is not working!

Confirmed using TC 8.51ax32 under W7x64SP1.

Also, TC shows correct suggestions when I type \\?\Volume{b88f9aff-6b87-11e2-9279-806e6f6e6963}\ into e.g. path bar, but Enter works only for subpath, not for root GUID path.

Sorry, this isn't currently planned, only UNC paths and drive letters are supported. I recommend that you mount the drive on a drive letter or a subdirectory.
