Jump to directory by focusing TC

Post by *zzynks »

I used to run TC on a Windows Vista PC.
There I could do the following:
1. Open an Open/Save dialog from whatever program
2. I switched (via Alt+Tab) to TC where the activated tab was eg. on the directory C:\Test\Test2\Test3.
3. I switched back (via Alt+Tab) to my program and in the Open/Save dialog the directory in which I could choose a file was changed to C:\test\test2\test3.
Very handy!

Recently I bought a new PC running on Windows 8.1.
On this one I'm unable to reproduce the scenario mentioned above: nothing changes to the (directory of the) Open/Save dialog.

Can anybody confirm that this behaviour is a TC feature?
How can I get that behaviour back on my Win 8.1 machine?
Thanks

It certainly is not a feature of TC.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

You can do that with Listary --> http://www.listary.com/

Hi mrle,

 Right on spot, you are!

I know Listary and I previously ran it on my old PC.
It has many features, but I basicly only used it to quickly jump to directories in Open/Save dialogs. It felt a bit overkill, also since it takes some time for the Listary part beneath the Open/Save dialog to appear.
Then I discovered FoldersPopup that does exactly what I needed: jump to directories in any window.
So, on my new machine I didn't install Listary and used FoldersPopup to jump to my favourite folders.
Now I realize that the feature I described earlier was coming from Listary and not from TC.

So, time to reconsider Listary...
Thanks mrle.
