If F9 is not defined, but F10 is, F9 takes the definition of F10, meaning, pressing F9 has the same effect as F10.
Confirmed.
Another interesting thing. The action of an unassigned F9 where F10 is redefined seems to be closely connected to the LEFT file panel.
Try this: Assign F10 to cm_VolumeId and F9 to nothing. If you press F10 you will be prompted for the volume name of the drive in the ACTIVE panel (as expected), but if you press F9 you can ONLY set the Volume name for the drive in the LEFT panel.
Or this: Redefine F10 to cm_VersionInfo and F9 to standard. If I press F9 on a file in the RIGHT panel then the Properties of the
last highlighted file in the LEFT panel will be shown, and afterwards the focus is
moved from the right to the left panel!
If
neither F9 nor F10 are redefined then there is a small difference between the action of the two keys. F9 activates the leftmost menu option if the left file panel is active and the rightmost menu option if the right panel is active, whereas F10
always activates the leftmost menu option. With F10 the activation of the menu toggles on an off with each press on the key - with F9 you can only activate the menu, not deactivate it - But this is actually mentioned in the keyboard
