TC taskbar icon remains colored indefinitely post FTP upload

I have discovered an (annoying) difference between 64-bit and 32-bit version: in the 64-bit version (v8.0), the program icon in the Windows 7 taskbar remains colored indefinitely after an FTP upload operation completes while another program window is active. In the 32-bit version, there would be a dong, and the TC icon in the taskbar would remain normal. In the 64-bit version, it stays orange until the window is opened again.
I find this irritating, since elsewhere an orange program in the taskbar indicates that some action is necessary and here, nothing must be done.
If there is a way to stop this behavior and have it behave like the 32-bit version does, that would be appreciated.
Thanks for a great tool!

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce it, I tried it both with TC minimized and just behind some other program. Can anyone else reproduce it? If yes, can you give me step by step instructions, please?I have discovered an (annoying) difference between 64-bit and 32-bit version: in the 64-bit version (v8.0), the program icon in the Windows 7 taskbar remains colored indefinitely after an FTP upload operation completes while another program window is active. I made a screen recording to show you exactly what happens. Watch it here:Unfortunately I cannot reproduce it, I tried it both with TC minimized and just behind some other program. Can anyone else reproduce it? If yes, can you give me step by step instructions, please?

I find this irritating, since the standard is that an orange program in the taskbar indicates that some action is necessary and here, nothing must be done.

I can reproduce it using jrose6's steps.
1. Open an FTP connection using TC x64
2. Upload any file to the FTP - make sure it takes at least a few seconds to complete
3. Switch to another application during the operation
When the operation completes, TC's icon in taskbar flashes.

I think there is some confusion about the types of coloring the taskbar button. It can be colored either as progress indicator, or as attention request. It seems to me, Christian thought about the first one (at least, that's how I understood the description of the problem at first), while the real reason of the coloring the TC button is just flashing, which goes away as soon as you switch into the application that requests your attention (TC in our case). And yes, I do confirm it with TC 8.0 x64 in Windows 7 x64.

That's my whole point: this should not be an "attention request." Other applications only invoke the "attention request" status when there is something urgent/important for the user to take care of. The completion of an upload does not require the user's urgent attention. That is a standard behavior of an attention request.
Many applications use the status bar to show progress (this is a great feature of Windows 7's status bar), but when the progress completes, all special coloration is removed. Examples are Winzip (zipping a large file) and Windows Explorer (copying a large file). In both cases, when the progress bar is finished, no "attention request" indication remains. The 32-bit version of TC never did this either.
Thanks.
Well, the whole description did not emphasize it, so I thought that he talked about "yellow" which is color for paused progress bar — maybe his monitor was poorly configured, or non-standard theme used, or whatever.umbra wrote:Well, jrose6 did say "orange" several times and as far as I know, there is only one state of a taskbar button with that color.
The point is, it seems to me Ghisler interpreted it the same way, otherwise I don't see how he could fail to reproduce it. The only explanation (apart from specific conditions required) is that he looked for stuck 100% progress and simply disregarded the flashing as not important.

You should not bind together the progress coloration and flashing coloration. They are completely different things and have absolutely nothing to do with each other. They just happen to occur one after the other in this particular situation. Of course I totally agree that this is still a bug and that TC should not require attention in this case, I just recommend to explicitly separate different functionality in a bug report, so that there was no confusion about what exactly you are trying to report.
I mean, in this case there was no need to add such entity as "progress coloration" at all: it has absolutely nothing to do with the bug report, and only distracts attention from the real problem which is flashing attention request.

Hi Flint,
I agree. I refer you to my original report, which makes no mention of the progress bar:

The problem seems to be fixed in 8.01rc1.
