[TC9x64ß5] Password Remember Doesn't Work

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[TC9x64ß5] Password Remember Doesn't Work

Post by *norfie² »

Password of an encrypted archive is forgotten (password remember was checked) if TC was in background only (not closed, not minimized). Windows 7x64, TC9x64ß5

Why is this a problem? Is this different from TC8.x?

I cannot confirm this. If TC is only put in the background (Alt-Tab, Win-Tab), then when brought into the foreground again the password is still remembered - testet with internal zip files so far.

@norfie²
Can you reproduce the behavior with both 32-bit TC and 64-bit TC?

There may be some differences between them in what they do when going to background. This is because different compilers are used to compile them, with different standard libraries.

My first test was with TC9b5 x64 - I have now tested with TC9b5 32bit as well - it still works as usual

Why is this a problem?
This not a problem but the behaviour differs from description of the check box.
Is this different from TC8.x?
Yes. TC8 remembers the password in this case.

I can confirm the problem with TC 9.0b5 x64 and x86
under Windows 10 using internal ZIP.
As soon as TC is minimized it forgets the password.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3447)
TC 11.03 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1372a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.3, Listary Pro 6.3.0.73
QAP 11.6.3.2 x64

As soon as TC is minimized it forgets the password.
It is supposed to forget it when minimized - norfie² is complaining that it is also forgotten when TC is only put in the background, which it is not supposed to.

If you want TC to also remember passwords when minimized use:
KeepPackerPassword=0 Used together with option "RememberLastPassword". Allows to keep last archive password when:
1: The program is minimized
2: The screen saver starts
3: both

Ok, thanks
In this case I can not confirm the problem.

I cannot confirm it either. Maybe the checkbox to remember the password wasn't checked?

It was checked. I reproduced this error on friday several times. Today it has gone. Plz close this thread.
