Feature request: Folder Tab Colors
I would like the option to specify folder tab colors, through a feature similar to Options, Define colors by file type. A number of my folders have the same names. If I can't quickly see which folder corresponds to a tab, I skip folder tabs and use the directory hotlist. I prefer to use the keyboard, so I do not want to take the time to hold the mouse cursor over tabs. I would like to use wildcards to specify the colors of some folder tabs. Example cases:
1. a unique path (H:\Models\CZE\2004-05\)
2. a folder name with a 3-character parent directory (H:\Models\???\2004-05\)
3. any folder within given parent directories (H:\Models\AUS\*\)
4. a folder name on any drive, with no parent directories (*:\Models\)
5. a folder name on a certain drive, with any number of parent directories (H:\...\temp\)
6. a folder name on any drive, with any number of parent directories (\OLD\ or *:\...\OLD\)
Where definitions overlap, perhaps the one nearest to the top of the list could take precedence.
I am especially interested in tab colors because they might have prevented me from accidentally erasing some files last night.
Maybe this request already was fully expressed. Here is some related material:
Mention of tab colors: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=8761#8761
Tab colors by type: FTP, Local dir, network drive, etc.: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=9132#9132
Pane colors by directory: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=9316#9316
A different color (light red) for locked tabs: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=16382#16382
Indication of the current tab, whether by a black border, a bold font, etc.: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=2966
Thanks

Is there anything like this planned for V7?
Additionally I'd like to request the ability to set a predefined global colour for tabs - much like the current "feature" where if you do these steps:
1. change your desktop 3D to Colour 1.
2. Start TC.
3. change the desktop 3D to Colour 2.
4. Reload the Main/Icon Menu to reset it's background.
The Tabs now retain Colour 1 as their background.
So a feature just to set the Tabs colour
(See I searched this time...realizing that yes there are posts prior to my joining the board)

I made this request to Ch. Ghisler a few days ago (13th feb 2006) by email and here is his answer.Balderstrom wrote:Is there anything like this planned for V7?

Ch. Ghisler reply (translated from french full email in french at the end):
Unfortunately it is not so simple - I (Ch. Ghisler) haven't found a simple method for the users to configure that.

Malheureusement ce n'est pas si simple - je n'ai pas encore trouvé de méthode
simple pour l'utilisateur pour configurer ça...

Of course I support this request at 200%

As this is not really simple because of the Tab-ControlBalderstrom wrote:Is there anything like this planned for V7?

There is a very cool PowerPro script by Vochomurka:
http://ppro.totalcmd.net/Scripts/HighlightCurrentTab.htm
It can colour the tabs, i'm just experimenting with it.

I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!
So we can hopefully expect an autohotkey script soon I guessSanskritFritz wrote:There is a very cool PowerPro script by Vochomurka:

It looks great, although I would like to color more than the current tab depending on fullpath or tab name (regular expression) ...
[Edit]
Oops, I just noticed now : You can highlight as many tabs as you wish

Moreover, with TabTools script you can highlight many tabs at once, picking them in one list. But the idea is the same.gbo wrote: Oops, I just noticed now : You can highlight as many tabs as you wish

All Folders Directories One Colour
For those of you like me who couldn't find how to make all directories / folders one colour and Search brought you here, do this:
Choose Configuration,
Options,
Color,
Define colors by file type...,
Add [a Template name]
[enter, say, Dir'ys]
Define
[choose tab] Advanced
[with the Attributes section ticked, click a tick in the Dir box; LEAVE OTHER BOXES WITH 'neutral' SQUARES ALONE, i.e. do not tick or clear them]
Save
[choose your colour]
[Ok your way out of Configuration][the template name will be in the colour you chose, as a check].
If you don't get it right do this to edit your 'Template':
Choose Configuration,
Options,
Color,
Define colors by file type...,
[highlight your template, say, Dir'ys]
Edit
Define
[choose tab] Advanced
[with the Attributes section ticked, click a tick in the Dir box; LEAVE OTHER BOXES WITH 'neutral' SQUARES ALONE, i.e. do not tick or clear them]
Save
Ok [to save parameters]
Yes [to overwrite earlier saved name]
[choose your colour]
[Ok your way out of Configuration][the template name will be in the colour you chose, as a check][you may be able to Enter your way out, via the default button].

By the way, new version 5.0 (for TC 7.5pb3 and later) is released.
You MUST indicate the following:
1) Path to wincmd.ini;
2) Path to TabTools.ini;
3) Path to icon library TT.icl;
4) Paths to ReadTabs, ParsePath, and TMTC scripts (usually the same path).
You should edit the TabTools.ini to set different modes, keys, colors, etc. Comments are in the sample ini.

Sorry, above I wanted to show that none is configured in PowerPro, perhaps except
I recommend to try one mode (with flag set), then to try another mode (flag cleared) and then to make your choice. At right clicking a tab it is closed, if PowerPro configuration checkbox (Command Lists\Setup...\All Menus\Right selects...) is checked. Otherwise right click is equivalent to the left one
