Suggested feature: hide/show 2nd lister pane

Post by *orsonk »

I realize it may be late in the game, but I wonder if others would appreciate the ability to hide and show the 2nd pane? In other words, for compact operation, I'd mostly use a single list pane (with tree). But occasionally I would switch on a 2nd pane for easier mass copying to another folder.

Anyone else like this idea?

:) Hello !

• This topic has been discussed many times already, please use the Search, you'll find a bunch of threads about this…

¤ Aside : From my own point of view, it's much easier to pack using the two panels than the tree and one panel…
Forget Win Explorer… :P

Agree with Clo unconditionally on this question:

We love T.C. so much, because it is not like Windows Explorer and because it always displays two panels side by side. :D

If you press CTRL while moving the file panel separator, it will snap to the positions 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%. So you can 'hide' the left or right panel by setting the separator to 0/100%.

Maybe this is feasible for you, at least if you don't switch between one/two panels very often.

Internal commands for setting the separator position (like cm_0percent, cm_20percent,...) were already requested, I still hope they will be implemented one time. With these you could easily switch between certain splitter positions with keyboard shortcuts.

But I totally agree with Clo and Karlchen about the two panels, I won't want to miss this kind of 'philosophy' anymore since I got used to it when working with ol' NC back in these days...

Change the filewindow -panel to 0% / 100%
Menu: Configuration - Save Position

Quickview:
Change the quickview -panel to 100% / 0%
Configuration - Save Position
Single panel commander, Ctrl + Q open a fullsized quickview. How boringly...

Use the command: cm_50Percent=909;Window separator at 50%
for to show both panels again in 50% / 50%
(You can also doubleclick on the file splitter to achieve this in v7.)
