DIR 2 LNK

Post by *Sam_Zen »

Someone on the dutch forum, trying out a new wireless, but malfunctioning mouse, managed with a few clicks to change "Documents and Settings [DIR] into ""Documents and Settings [LNK]. (with the related arrow-icon)
After that he didn't had (normal) access anymore of course, because the link obviously pointed to itself.
We didn't find a way to repair this so far. So in the meantime I advised to place a subdir of 'D and S' in the Ctrl-D list to have access to the underlying content at least.

This should be impossible without prior moving/renaming the original "D and S" dir. Maybe this plugin could be useful to find the real target of that junction.
TC for Linux please!

Well, case is solved in the meantime. It has to do (of course..) with Vista. It no longer uses 'D and S' but now it's 'Users'.
These junctions are made for apps that expect the XP environment. A rather silly compatibility construction imo but anyway.
