No offence intended and I'm not here to judge but by looking at the FAQ snippet you posted, I can see it has already started to grow beyond my needs.

I guess I should save me some copy of the current implementation of UV.

Have you checked Options -> Configure -> Advanced -> Show image transparency ?

When you do that then UV shows transparency pretty OK, also when using IrfanView/XnView.

May I suggest that it is made possible to shift between internal and external (IrfanView/XnView) viewer by pressing 4 - just like it is possible to shift between plugin viewers by pressing 7.

• That's not quite true (globally), because some animated BMPs existed. We had even an option for that in XnView.
However, it has been removed because such files are unobtainable nowadays…
• About the button to get the x…View settings, I meant that the button itself could be different (larger)
and¦or placed elsewhere, but still on the same page…

Thanks, works perfect - I like the indication in the window title when iview is in effect.

i have problems with autodetect UTF-16 files correctly (starting with FF FE). I always have to switch to unicode view manually. Is there a chance that these files get autodetected ?

It's autodetected here correctly (both FFFE and FEFF). Please send me by email your file and Viewer.ini?

your file is named "xxx.log" and "log" extension is in the "Text:" extensions list (General tab). So you need to remove 'log' from this list.

what am I doing wrong - when opening a jpg with viewer it opens in irfan, but when I with navigation to a pdf file I get error

1 If you don't check IrfanView option (Beta, General tab), IrfanView will not start.
2 You cannot use IrfanView to see pdfs.

Edit: Delete the ',ps,pdf' from IrfanView's extensions list, I'll delete it too.

hm, don't have those extensions neither in irfaview or in images in universal viewer, they are in office/internet only

Another glitch:
To no see a list of all previously opened files I have to mark show, instead of unmark

1. extensions are not marked in iview list

2. there is an option in the config dialog - when marked i don't get a list, when unmarked I get a list

3. startup in my case is within tc - but always shows a file
