Search with Exclusions

Post by *margolis22 »

Is there a way to create a search and create exclusions of folders. I am trying to search my entire 'My Documents' folder but want to exclude a folder within my documents. This would be also helpful to be able to exclude file types also. On the flip, the ability to only include certain folders would be nice too.

Did you press F1 in the search dialog?
The answer will appear. ;)

Additional information (undocumented in help):
1) Except dirs can be use like in this example
Search string: *.exe|except_dir\
will find all exe files in all subdirs, except except_dir directory
You can also use wildcards ? and * even in directory mask
2) Include/exclude subdirs can be made also very easy by mark/unmark desired dirs before search.
3) Make your except rule through ignore file list, activate this option [with a shortcut] and... SEARCH.

Maybe it's good reason to make a internal command with parameter like
IGNORELIST <parameter>
, where <parameter> can be different path and filename. This can be useful for a lot of purposes.
My Best Wishes,

Eugen

I would like to have the possibility to make search ignore list at the same way as usually ignore list (may be saved at the same file).
