Why TC does not activate the existing tab?

Post by *sujanlal »

Consider the following situations:

1. I have two tabs: folder1 and folder2 (in left panel).
2. folder1 tab is now active and i am navigating folder2.
3. I expect that it will activate the existing folder2 tab, but there will be duplicate tab of folder2.

Why TC does not activate the existing tab to have more spaces?
Also is it possible to restrict the number of folder tabs?

Thanks.

No, this is intentional. Why? Consider that you have c:\windows in tab 2 and c:\windows\system32 in tab 1. Now you go up in Tab 1 to c:\. On the first step, you go to c:\windows. Now TC could close Tab 1 and bring you to Tab 2, but is this really useful? No, the user wants to continue to c:\ and doesn't want to lose c:\windows...

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

2ghisler;
Yes i realized this situation. However one can lock the c:\Windows if he/she does not want to lose it.

2Hacker;
I think LockedTabChange is for only locked tab.

thx.

Why isn't there a TC Knowledgebase? How about a Wiki?

From the help file - section 4b: INI-File settings: wincmd.ini
LockedTabChange=1 What to do when changing dir on locked tab:
0: always create a new tab
1: re-use tab with same dir
2: re-use first unlocked tab
3: re-use last unlocked tab

Do you seriously not understand the question - or are you just being so unflexible that you cannot understand a little less than perfect English?

In case of the first I will offer to elucidate the question - in case of the latter, hmm...

Very romantic English.
Well I don't think your Danish is less flawless ;-) Unfortunately I don't speak Ozzian (or is it Ozsk?) myself, so I can't translate to your native language.

EDIT: The reference here above to Oz was made because PeterTBCarp had stated Oz as his Location in his Forum profile at the time when I first wrote this message.

Translate Rly

Post by *PeterTBCarp »

It's the case of the first case, Peter. [BTW, it's 'inflexible', and I can assure you I'm not.]

I therefore accept your offer of translating the core of the question into Standard Received English - the type we use in Oz. :P
3. I expect that it will activate the existing folder2 tab, but there will be duplicate tab of folder2.

Why TC does not activate the existing tab to have more spaces?
Is he saying that activating the second tab creates a third? I haven't seen that behaviour.

[BTW, I don't understand your Danglish.. :? ]

Why do I have to search through German in this forum? Every Search requires a resetting of forums to search, and do I search TC or TC7 Bugs? And even the English link in the home page doesn't take me to English.

:) Hi !
[BTW, I don't understand your Danglish.. ]
• That's at the border of an insult, I recommend you to stop that unpleasant “game”.
- Whether you would have visited that forum a bit more since December 2003,
you would know that Peter has the best help for English at home : his own wife, who is from the USA.
Point noted.

Hey, Clo - completely off-topic - I'm replying to petermad's reference to Ozzian and Ozsk. Or do Scandinavians get special treatment here?
Recommend you stay out of it and let us solve the issue. The TC issue.
And how do you know how often I visit this forum? Are you recording my IP address? Now that would be interesting..
(What 'Point' is noted? Or is that a Frenchism? P. )
