Search excluding directories: exclude dir itself

Regarding

*.ini | windows\ finds all ini files except those in directories called "Windows" and their subdirs.

When searching for

*.* | windows\

TC still finds/displays e.g. [C:\WINDOWS] itself.

Shouldn't be the excluded directory/folder itself be excluded in search results, too?

*.* | windows\ only affects the looking in subdirs - it doesn't affect which names are actually found. This is handled by names given without backslash:

*.* | windows will find all files/dirs except for those named "windows", but it will search in subfolders named "windows".

*.* | windows windows\ will do what you want.

Heh heh, you and icfu have just endowed English with a new word. The word distractive doesn't exist, not even on WordWeb. You probably mean distracting, as in:

"The arse antlers on that woman are so distracting that I simply cannot concentrate on my lovely Vista bugs..."

And speaking of new words, this phrase "arse antlers" is one of the hot favourites (courtesy of our Aussie friends) for the 2007 Word of the Year contest being run by the Macquarie Dictionary.

It means (are you ready): "a tattoo just above the buttocks, having a central section and curving extensions on each side."

You probably prefer not to know that!

is it possible to find a directory, which not have a specific file?

for example I want to search a couple of subdirectories in c:\mp3 to find which of them do not have cover.jp*g?
