Tabs in lister
From my point of view, when you have to handle multiple lister instances through windows task bar is more difficult than if you were able to open all the files in a single instance of lister, opening a tab for every file you want to see, as Firefox does (and IE7 has copied)

Don't support.
One time I see only one file.
Support adding tabs for change current Lister plugin (like press 4).

Just save your work. Is a very good practice. All the text editors supporting multiple opened files work this way. I think this is not a reason to not implement tabs in lister.DrShark wrote:My support too. But what when you'll open several tabs with edit support (plugin). Imagine you'll change documents in some tabs and then you'll create a new tab whith plugin which crashing Total Commander. You'll lose all data.
This feature could be interesting, but sincerely, I don`t believe that I use it a lot. Normally I select various files, and change with N and P between them.
Perhaps a new switch in wincmd.ini for add new files to the index of lister if the user press F3 and lister is active...
BTW: The index of files (on top right corner) could be changed to a listbox with the name of file. Currently there is a dialogue for go to file number. Many times I don't remember the position of an determinate file.

It is very rarely occasion for me to view more than 1 file in lister so I can only see the disadvantages of this solution.
The purpose of lister is to give the user preview of selected file(s). Using lister for multiple files would be better provided just by giving popup menu with files names to select (RMB+MouseScroll in Opera) instead of N/P solution. Loading all of them into one lister window would increase memory usage.
I think it could be less effort for Ghisler to improve existing functionality than adding this one. Sombra has pointed good ideas too. But the current state is not so bad after all.

But when you change with N and P, you loose the current position on the file, so it's useless for me. Even more, I usually see two or more files one beside the other so seeing one after the other represents a problem.
