The position of folder tabs in a navigation panel.
Hello,
I've searched the entire forum but couldn't find any related information.
Is there any way to move folder tabs down at the bottom of a main panel?

Du kannst TC auch so konfigurieren, dass die Tabs permanent sichtbar sind:
Einstellungen > Ordner-Tabs > Tab-Zeile auch anzeigen falls nur ein einziger Tab geöffnet ist
in english:
You can configure TC to always show tabs:
Options > folder tabs > show tab-header also when there is only one tab

Exactly,
The function key bar is somewhat useless for experienced users and command line is not so useful too; Because of this, the bottom of the main panel is very simple in my case (only one line space; status bar) while the top of the interface takes spaces (five lines; menu, drive buttons in each panel, disk spaces info, current directory and tabstop header).
1. I'd like to vertically attach button bar between the main panels or move it down at the bottom of the panels, if possible.
2. If button bar is placed on the top of the main panels, it would be better for drive buttons to be vertically attached to the left side of each panel, at least for me.
Vertical drive button bar used in other file manager. Just to see how it looks:

3. I'd like to merge diskspaces info into status bar and remove diskspaces info from drive button bar, if possible. (There is an interesting feature about this in speed commander. You may know it. The status bar of speed commander can be edited manually.)
ps. I'd like to see a similar action of the function key bar in the following file manager: http://www.xiles.net/download.php?file=NexusFileVBeta7.exe
There is a zip version too. if you don't like an installer version, visit here: http://www.xiles.net/
The function key bar of NexusFile is dynamically changed with modifier keys hold down. I think it's a very informative and accessible interface. Probably it could be more useful than button bar if a manual key mapping information can be displayed in function key bar with modifer key combinations.
Modifier key and clicking combo over the function key bar could be used to call an external program on a selected file. I think it's not so bad idea for function key bar to have multiple lines if it can be configured. I've already been using Start Menu but if it could be merged into the interface I've explained above it might be more useful in my opinion.
Yes, I don't really like an icon based interface. It's useful with a small number of icons but it requires a text soon explaining what it is.

Hello !
- Years ago, I proposed an option to place the tabs either at the top, or at the bottom of the main window
(like I've in my text-editor). I got big guns, the argument being that the “F” keys buttons… blah blah…
So, I agree that you wrote above.
The default interface is unreadable, the top is taken by a few huge Bill's places buttons
(I never use these “pre-chewed locations” : My Blah Bla, My A***…
).
- I spent two days just to get a decent readable GUI…
… regardless the Help online (in Korean, if you can read that, you happy !) and the French (minimal) translation and test report I sent to the author more than two months ago, I'm still waiting for a reply…
- I don't say it's bad, but simply that it's far to be the ideal template of an interface for a file manager…
…too many cosmetics, too many lacks in the functions.
all are meaningful because I draw them myself
… as original non-goofy motives.
- But I confess that the default icons are not all self-explanatory… No offence to the designer

• And not for me. I gave a try to the NexusFile you acclaim… I'm much less enthusiastic……2. If button bar is placed on the top of the main panels, it would be better for drive buttons to be vertically attached to the left side of each panel, at least for me. …

Bonjour!
For example, I really liked the virtual temp drive of Dos Navigator. I think it is one of the feature must have in file manager. There are similar features among file mangers but none of them has a complete feature set. Can anybody remember Norton File Find from dos? After searching the specified text across files, it can be displayed in a viewer having simple buttons to jump a next/previous searched text or file. The searched texts are highlighted. There are similar ways to use it in TCMD but the interfaces are not better.

Big guns? can't believe it though. Personally I think the tab position should be at the top if the interface can't be adjusted. Definitely placing at the top is much more convenient and readable position. However, I don't use folder tabs frequently and it makes the tcmd environment of mine complicated. I'd like to move down the position of tab folders for a reason.Clo wrote: - Years ago, I proposed an option to place the tabs either at the top, or at the bottom of the main window

Hmm, there is an english interface too. And I think it's because you are too accustomed to the interface of TC that you can't easily be used to other file managers. I'm one of the users too. :p I think XnView has better interface than irfanview but I'm using irfanview as my default graphic viewer. Why? It's the same reason. I don't think the interface of TC is the best available on the market. The default interface is unreadable, the top is taken by a few huge Bill's places buttons

Darn serious? Ok I'll pray..• Let pray, let pray for… A little bird told me…

It really depends on personal taste though.• I disagree, I've six button-bars almost full (circular call) as 24² icons, thus approx. 140 icons at least, all are meaningful because I draw them myself… as original non-goofy motives.
