right click (context menu) crashes TC

Post by *RobK »

Hello,

Under following simple circumstances Total Commander (V 7.04a) crashes:

- context menus on right mouse button are enabled (Configuration > Options.. > Operation: Mouse selection mode = Left mouse button (Windows standard))
- a directory contains at least one subdirectory with the same name:

Code: Select all

  xx1
     xx1
- in TC right click on the outer of these two directories to pop up its context menu

=> TC crashes befor context menu is popped up :(

If you rename only one of the two equal named directories (xx1 -> xx2) then everything goes ok, no crash and context menu pops up correctly.

Can anybody confirm this bug.

This is not a bug of TC but of a buggy shell extension within this context menu.

see TC Wiki Right click menu (context menu) crash to find the culprit.

Thank you for you immediate answer.
You are right.

I installed the ShellExView tool and disabled several shell extensions. At the end it was the CryptoEx Shell Extension (CexTrayShellExtension.dll V3.0.8.2) that caused the problem in connection with the mentioned directory structur.

Thank you for your excellent help.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

2RobK: Thank YOU for coming back and report your results.
You may report it to the author of CryptoEx to give him a chance to fix it.
