Filter bug
First I'm exciting with fabulous amount of filters possibilities and usabilities.
Few examples:
- colors by files types
- internal associations
- search files & dirs
Personal I think filters will become (in fact is already) a new TC tool, together with MultiRename Tool, Background Manager, Synchronize Tool, Compare by content, Search Tool.
Now I want to present a bug.
Please follow the steps:
- Add a custom filter into internal association, something like "All TEXT files newer than 3 days"
- Delete that filter
Now go to Configurations - Options - Colors - Define colors by files type.
Here you will see the added filter ("All TEXT files newer than 3 days") into filter list.
Actually, is not a bug but if I add/delete many filters I will have many obsolete items without possibility to clean (maintain) the filter list.
This is may ask: a tool for cleaning (maintaining) the filter list.
(I know: I can edit manual wincmd.ini but is not an elevated/convenient method)

No. I want to remove items permanently from everywhere and not manually.Hacker wrote:eugensyl,
Hm, are they not to be found in the Find Files dialog (Load/Save)?

Now I can only by edit wincmd.ini and this action can be a little bit dangerous because of number of filter. Actually now I must reenumerate filters items.
I found a different way to keep a clean filter section in wincmd.ini using a compare by content tool with current wincmd.ini and an old one.
Definitely it's bug. A small one.

I cannot confirm. I do not see the filter in the Define colors by file type list. Please follow the steps:

- Delete that filter
Now go to Configurations - Options - Colors - Define colors by files type.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
Sorry for missunderstanding. In fact it is a predefined item in list of filters.Hacker wrote: I cannot confirm. I do not see the filter in the Define colors by file type list.

I made 3 simple steps:
Step 1
File - Internal Association - Add - Define
General tab: *.txt
Advanced tab: not older than 3 days
Template name: TEST - TXT not older than 3 days
OK
Ok (quit)
Step 2
File - Internal Association
TEST - TXT not older than 3 days
- Delete (from list)
Step 3
Configuration - Option - Color - Define colors by file type - Add
Dialog box: Specify file type
or select predefined selection type window:
HERE YOU WILL FIND "TEST - TXT not older than 3 days" and this item cannot be delete.
I'm sure you will see. I have tried on two computers.

eugensyl,
Also, I repeat that you can remove the filter from the Find Files dialog and you do not have to edit any ini files.

Ah, this is the step that wasn't mentioned. Yes, I confirm it is there and I do not see a reason why it shouldn't. I might have defined a custom association for *.txt that aren't older than three days and I want them to be shown in green. I do not expect that when I remove the internal association then I will lose the color, too.Step 3
Configuration - Option - Color - Define colors by file type - Add
Dialog box: Specify file type
Also, I repeat that you can remove the filter from the Find Files dialog and you do not have to edit any ini files.

Ok. You will be all right.Hacker wrote:eugensyl,

But, in this case, Load/Save tab from Find Files dialog box it's seem to be obsolete and should be renamed into "Filter Manager", as it is.
5602="General\nAdvanced\nFilter Manager\nPlugins"
Also it would be nice to find in help file a separate section "Filters":
- where can be used
- how can be used
Anyway, I think this tool should be a separate one not linked to Find Files and only should be used together like colors or internal associations item.
Problems doesn't exist, there are only solutions.
This is my point of view.

Eugen

I don't see where there is a bug here. When you remove the filter from Load/Save (via Define button), it will also be removed from the filter dialog.
