FTP and Background Manager Bug

Post by *brahman »

When I have an FTP transfer going and want to add selected files via the + button, Background Manager accepts and queues the selected files, but when it is their turn, tells me "Transfer failed, do you want to continue?". All queued files fail this way. Dragging and dropping several files to the FTP window and subsequent queuing and transfer via Background Manager works fine.

Here are the paths shown above the file panes:
Source: f:\_NotF\Images\ASUS 090819-ful.sn2
Target: 0:f:/Images/*.*

The failure does not show in TC's FTP log. I am using Personal FTP Server v.6.0.1f on the other side, concurrent log ons permitted. Host is XP SP3, Server Win7.

Regards,

Brahman

Cannot confirm, I tried with an ftp and ftps connection.

To enable detailed loggin in the background too, please add the following line to wcx_ftp.ini under thesection [General] :
SpecialFlags=16

You can edit wcx_ftp.ini via Configuration - Change settings files directly.

It obviously has to do with permissions. But why can I transfer with drag & drop without a permission issue but not via + button into the same folder?

I thought the detailed server log would also help. Here it is:

It may also be worth mentioning that a transfer to root c: succeeded in the same way. The f: drive is mounted in the FTP connection below the c: drive as a folder, which shows f: in the c: folder structure.

No, it's not permissions. The problem is the prefix "f:/" which doesn't seem to be handled correctly by the BTM, which is normally working with Unix-Style paths.

TC tries to switch to "/:/Images" with command
CWD /:/Images

What is this "personal ftp server"? Is it freeware or payware?

The version I am using is freeware for personal use:

There is also a Pro payware version:

I have made some tests with this server, and it should work OK now with RC2. Please test it, and report any further problems here in this thread!

Thank you, it works now ...

except (but maybe this is wanted?):

When I open background manager by itself (so no files are listed), then add files with "+" I am asked for the master password, even though the ftp target is already connected.

B.

Thanks for confirming the fix!

Indeed the password isn't currently passed to the background transfer manager in this case, sorry.

It is not an important issue, but just thought I mention it.

Be well and continue your good work!
