X64 context sub-menu

Hi,

I'm using Windows Vista 64-bit and I would have a question.
Why is the X64 sub-menu necessary?

If it's needed because Total Commander is not a 64-bit application, do you have any ideea when a 64-bit version of Total Commander will be available?

The sub-menu is taking its toll on my productivity. Two clicks are too much for a power-user.

P.S.: Please don't tell me to use the search function. I did, and all I found was "helpful" advice telling users to use the search function (instead of a real answer)...

This is because the question is posed almost a hundred times up to now and it is tediously to give the same answer over and over again, just because users don't search for the answer.

But just for you the 101st answer: TC is written in Delphi and there is no 64-bit version of Delphi out yet.

... and yes, you are right, due to the matter of fact that Total Commander is a 32-bit application TC cannot show 64-bit context menus without playing tricks (separate x64 sub-menu through TCMDX64.EXE)

I didn't meant to sound mean.
It's just that, if most of the users would have answered this question with at least a link to a post like this that contained answers - instead of simply saying "use search" - I wouldn't even have to start a new thread.

@SGA_wizard - That type of thing is something that should have a STICKY Thread or a FAQ Thread that can be updated with a handful of common queries... to start with --> "64 Bit Context Menus in Total Commander"

Even if I understand that there has to be a workaround to implement TC to XP64, I wonder why some other 32bit applications move to this submenue. Is it possible to remove these entries back to the first level menue, and how?

As I only updated (without reading the benefits for updating,) I'm some kind of disappointed with this feature.

Are you sure that these entries are moved to the x64 submenu, or are there only duplicates of already existing x86 context menu entries?

Some applications are installing both shell extensions for x86 and x64.

You can safely remove these x64 duplicates via "x64->Configure...":

Configure context menu shell extensions

In this dialog box you can define which 64-bit context menu extensions should be shown. The less extensions are shown, the faster the 64-bit menu will load. If you cannot even open the 64-bit menu due to a bug in one of the shell extensions, you can hold down the SHIFT key while opening the 64-bit menu. This way it will display only the "Configure" menu item, which allows you to disable the shell extensions which may be causing the problem.

Available context menu shell extensions:
Lists the available context menu extensions which haven't been excluded
[Exclude] Moves the context menu extensions selected in the upper list to the lower list. This will exclude them from the context menu.
[Include] Moves the context menu extensions selected in the lower list to the upper list. This will include them again in the context menu.

Exclude these extensions from the menu:
The context menu extensions listed here will not be shown in the X64 menu.
[OK] Save settings
[Cancel] Ignore changes
[Help] Show this help page

I'll check configuring on Monday. But I'm sure that they moved, because otherwise I wouln't have realized that there is a new "X64" submenue

I didn't move anything there - the X64 submenu shows only 64-bit extensions, while the main popup shows only 32-bit extensions.

if a program installed only 64bit shell extension, is it possible to somehow (with regedit) show it in 32bit menu?

also, ghisler, if you could add a hotkey for x64 menu, also if 6 could be underlined (X&64) so i can quickly open it.. that would be really cool
