Why these 2 commands: cm_copySamepanel, cm_copyOtherpanel

Post by *Raymond »

HISTORY.TXT says: "3 new internal commands: cm_copySamepanel, cm_copyOtherpanel, cm_createShortcuts: Same as cm_copy, but not reacting to Shift and Alt keys!"

I can't get the point of the first 2 new commands. What's their special usage in comparison with cm_copy?

cm_copyOtherpanel : That's what is done if F5 is pressed : copy to the location of the opposite panel

cm_copySamepanel : That's what is done if SHIFT-F5 is pressed : make a copy in the same folder as the original.
This last one makes sense if you just want to make a backup before modify the original or create multiple files with slightly modified content.

Now you can redefine shortcuts for all three commands separately or add cm_copySamepanel and cm_createShortcuts to menu, like I did.[/face]

Then cm_copySamepanel is for copying to the same panel directly. Yeah, I can give it a shortcut now.
And cm_copyOtherpanel is EXACTLY THE SAME as cm_copy.
Is that all?

Try to define shortcuts with Shift to cm_Copy and cm_CopyOtherpanel
- you'll understand

Indeed cm_copy is meant to be put on a button or in start menu, so it works with ctrl+shift modifiers. The other commands are for hotkeys, to select one of the 3 possible copy operations.
