Latest logitech mouseware, and backspace problem in tcmd

Post by *mhe »

Has anybody noticed they have removed the "backspace" command from the drivers, and added a "back" feature.

Ive been using backspace on my thumb button for years, and im definately not settling for a "back" feature wich works completely worthless in totalcmd.

Is there any hack or such i can use? I know this is prolly not the best forum to ask this, but i dont feel like talking to logitechs useless support.

Hi!

Perhaps you simple downgrade the mouseware software?
I also used thumb for backspace and if new mouseware isn´t supporting that, i´ll never install it!

Backspace only goes up one dir on each click. But back will get you to your previous position, if youve changed driveletter you will go to a complete different drive etc.

Completely useless imho.

If I need to go to my "previous position" (in my case this happens very often, actually), this is exactly the thing I need. So IMHO this is more than useful function you can access two ways now, BTW.[/face]

What a good opportunity to start using the keyboard, instead of the mouse.
A mouse is only useful in games, internet browsing and poorly designed programs with no keyboard shortcuts.
Of all the planets I've been to, this one is my favorite.

Black Dog: it might be useful for some ppl, i have more use for backspace though. You always know where youll be when you hit backspace.

Im not sure all tcmd users would agree on that one.

Well, with my five-button mouse I tend to stop using KBD for Commander navigation - I have wheel button assigned to "Enter" and side buttons to "Alt"+"<-/->". So with all this and two wheels in addition mouse navigation became really comfortable.

But in general you are right, Aezay friend.[/face]

And with mouse gestures you get even more effective.

Well, this is two absolutely different things, actually - I can't get why you trying to say that one is better than other. This is like a comparison of worm and soft... %)

m> Im not sure all tcmd users would agree on that one.

I don't know about all users, I can say only for myself - I agree with Aezay.

m> And with mouse gestures you get even more effective.

Well, in my case mouse just substitute KBD, I don't even move it in most cases %).

BTT, ^PgUp works the same way as BS, may be you can assign it instead.[/face]

Yup, and loose backspace functionality in browsers and all other apps. =)
Were you _really_ need the backspace/back feature.

But enough now, if anybody knows of a solution, go ahead and tell us :) , íf not let the thread fade away.

Logitech haven't removed the backspace - they have just hidden it. They decided there were too many entries in the list, so they removed some & put them under a "keystroke" entry. Open up the mouseware control panel, go into your button assignments. Assign the button to a "keystroke", then a little field will be enabled below this. Press the backspace key, & "backspace" comes up in the field. Ok the change & you have just assigned the backspace key to the mouse button.

Oops, minor typing error there. You have to click in the field that comes up when you assign the keystroke, then press the backspace key.
