Tabs - an 'X' for closing.

Post by *miskox »

It would be nice to have an 'X' on the right side of a tab so it could be possible to close tabs with just a click on an 'X' (as IE 8 has them).

Right now you can close a tab by double click on it.

TC allows to close tabs by clicking on their headers by middle mouse key.

Single middle click is better than double left click because it doesn't cause folder change that may be bad idea e.g. in case of closed FTP connection.

Do NOT support.

As MVV said, tabs can be closed by the middle mouse key. Adding an X to the tab will reduce the space available for the tab name.

I don't support it. I prefer to leave the space to the tab names.

Ctrl+Click also closes the tabs. Or maybe it was shift+click, I think TwinKey changed one of those for one of its actions.

I wouldn't mind an [x] -- it would only have to be displayed when the mouse hovered over that particular tab.

It would also allow you to close a tab without having to switch to the tab, thus keeping the DirectoryHistory cleaner.

There is yet another opportunity. The Netscape browser (and some other one which I can't remember) has two buttons in the tab header row: first (the leftmost one) opens a new tab, second (the rightmost one) closes the CURRENT tab.
Don't miss that there are shortcuts in TC for open/close tab commands: Ctrl+T and Ctrl+W, respectively. So, there are now at least 4 ways to close current tab (MMB, Ctrl+LMB, 2xLMB, Ctrl+W), so any additional way would be redundant.
