I don't see the need for internal support of burning.
I use Image Burn and a Button in TC which starts Image Burn with the selection of Files and Dirs from TC.

Well, just because you don't see the need doesn't mean others don't ;)

For me thats the same discussion as why is TC not having an integrated editor.
Reason is because there are so many available, even for free.
The same is true for burning tools. Integration of existing popular programs makes more sense then having all that stuff inside of a file manager.

Well, I would be perfectly fine with a plugin as well. But the CD/DVD Burning plugin is not being developed any further and I have troubles with CDRWs and DVDRWs.

If one required it that badly, it would be as simple as creating a button for the line-command mkisofs.exe or one could create a plugin with a GUI window for setting options instead of line-command ones --- heck the whole thing could be a very small AHK script with a settings Window/popup.

Included in cdrTools-2.01
cdda2wav.exe
cdrecord.exe
mkisofs.exe
readcd.exe
*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.

Not a big fan of these open source tools to be honest. The failed more than once on me (screwing RW media while burning, erasing...). And I tried many.

I use mkisofs.exe for all my slipstreamed Windows OS disks, and have not had an issue at all. YMMV.

Alex Kopylov's version of ming32 cdrtools 2.01 (which don't require Cygwin) can be found on Bootable CD Wizard -- see the link on the page for Win32.

It's the general preferred tool for line-command burning, but if you are that much against open-source tools, then
You could use Microsoft's very own OSCDIMG (formerly known as CDMage).

Ah no way ! I love FOSS, just not in the burning field :)
Will give it a try, sounds very fiddly, though.

My idea is same...

It's a bit odd to read cons only. Quickly, the impression arises that no one would like that feature integrated, which is not true. Otherwise Christian would not have considered to implement it. Check how many pages this thread has.

How about a pro:

I have used the CD/DVD Burner Plugin for writing 500+ data CDs/DVDs. I have tried alternatives (ImgBurn, CDBurnerXP, etc.) and I liked the TC plugin better (both because of the simpler interface, and because I could burn 4.65 GB of data with it, instead of the max 4.5 GB allowed by the others).

So I definitely support an internal solution based on the same FoxBurner SDK.

I am waiting for the internal solution since it was announced.
In the meantime I use the plugin, but that makes troubles burning DVDs...

I'm a newcomer and was wondering if there's any news on this. I'd love to see this feature implemented on TC. The last posts I can find are dated August 2010.
