Packing files -probably- bigger than 2 GB with ZIP
From time to time, I need to ZIP a few folders, that are huge (few GB). I do that overnight, ZIPping those folder to 1GB files, but whenever TC (using internal ZIP) come to this huge folder, it warns me with warning #1355 ("... If the resulting archive is bigger than 2 GB total commander...").
I usually pack more folder, but only some of them are that huge. What is wrong is that I have to be at the computer to confirm to continue everytime TC try to ZIP that big folder. Is is possible to add checkbox for "Always YES", "Always NO", please?

Nice, it works ;o) Thanks to you I found a good topic about this. I searched before I wrote this topic, but there was too many topics and if I am right, there is no possibility to search just in the subjects...HolgerK wrote:wincmd.ini

Thank you.
P.S.: I still think it will be better to add the checkbox ;o) Why not?
Nah. If you are zipping 10 large folders and only the last two are >2GB, you will face the same problem you are facing now...František Horálek wrote:P.S.: I still think it will be better to add the checkbox ;o) Why not?

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.

Yes, but you will have to be in front of the PC to click on something in order for the while process to continue execution...HolgerK wrote:But only once if the checkbox would be in front of "[_] Never show me this warning again."wanderer wrote:.. you will face the same problem you are facing now...

The WarnTooBig ini option has the exact effect you wish, it just does not appear in the Options dialog. I guess it would be convenient for new users to see it there instead of having to search the help and manually put it in the ini, but this is true for may other options too...HolgerK wrote:wincmd.ini

I guess a new user will only be disturbed about this repetitive informative warning instead of searching for an option in some deep hidden dialog or reading the help.
Without the knowledge that such a warning will appear, he would never search for a solution.
Furthermore: Do you think that someone would ever turn this message on again?

Nope, probably not. That's the problem with this and other similar options. They are one-time settings so there is no point on wasting space in the Options dialog for them. However, if they do not appear somewhere in the UI, a new user (and some times an old userHolgerK wrote:Furthermore: Do you think that someone would ever turn this message on again?

The "don't show this warning again" checkbox idea sounds better to me.Perhaps an extra one-time message on how to set them in the INI would be useful.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
I like it too but if i remember correctly, when such an idea was proposed on another matter in the past, Christian was not very fond of it. I could be wrong though...Hacker wrote:wanderer,The "don't show this warning again" checkbox idea sounds better to me.Perhaps an extra one-time message on how to set them in the INI would be useful.

That is right! There is no need to have every option in Tools. I pack huge folders often at these times and "don't show this warning again" checkbox will be just enough to resolve my problem.Hacker wrote:wanderer,The "don't show this warning again" checkbox idea sounds better to me.Perhaps an extra one-time message on how to set them in the INI would be useful.
