Hy did you put to check the totalcmd file size?
When i try to UPX the executable, i get
"Warning: the totalcmd executable file is corrupted, possible virus!...."

Furthermore the EXE is signed with our digital certificate. Packing the EXE makes that signature invalid. Therefore you need to get the packed EXE from our site as described in the file SIZE!.TXT as Clo wrote.

I'm not sure why anyone uses UPX at all anymore. The file is still expanded fully in memory, thus the advantage is soley a lesser footprint on the disk. While it's disadvantages are well known: a UPX'd binary cannot share memory space: any required DLLs are loaded multiple times for each instance of the program; thus you will use MORE memory running multiple instances of a UPX'd program than if it wasn't compressed.

The UPX-packed TC can be run from floppy disks (e.g. on older PCs) and may start more quickly over slow networks (VPN). I'm still using UPX 1.24 because in my tests there were less problems with virus scanners.
