3 Panels

Hello, I would like to ask if it's possible to have three panels instead of two. Such thing would be probably accomplished through some kind of plugin (probably).

Or you don't know about anything like that ? Such thing doesn't exist ?

I use TC instead of Windows Explorer, because it has two panels => you can easily copy/move from one place to second. But sometimes it would be good to have third.



So far, I substitute third panel by using more tabs, but it's not almighty.

Suggested and rejected many-many times (and even more). Look, for example, here, here or here.
What are exactly the features of three panel interface that could not be realized by tabs? (at least 3)

I'm not talking about permanent thing for everyone. I'm talking about OPTIONAL thing - only those who will want this will turn it on.

If it has been suggested in past, it looks like some people want it.

As said it was rejected a bunch of time, but if you want it give a look to QDIR it can even have 4 panels at the time !

Also you can open TWO TCs and arrange them vertically. Or use the Tree panel on the left of main panels.

TC should not support more than 2 panels but can support when click /give focus on one instance than the second instance should visible under the active windows ( has the event) . In a way this behraviour shoumd be implemented in the OS level and let user for each application instance define the behaviour . For example if the main window is hidden behind other instance , the hidden windows should be configure to make it move to be able to see the panel .thus we have 4 panels using two TC instances in same time .
In a way people who need 3 panels need that all panel (4 here) are viewable when begin to give the focus on one TC instance !!

Does this make sense and make happy those who don't want 3 panels and this who want 3 panels ( 4 in this case )
in a way use layout manager like cube let people have a layout only for TC .Android has slide windows why not windows OS ?
