Machine missing from Network Neighborhood

Post by *daktari »

Windows 7 Pro SP1
TC v7.56a

I added a new unRAID server (OTHER) this weekend, and I noticed right away it was not appearing in the Network Neighborhood list like the other unRAID server (TOWER) I have, plus three (SCOOTER, WESTON, & WESTONOLD) XP Pro machines.

I can easily navigate to the new server using its IP, but that's a ton of work! :P

What do you think is going on?

I have not until now, but there was no change.

Thanks for trying.

I rebooted today (unrelated to this issue), and when I started TC, only the Win 7 laptop was visible. Now that's strange. Came back just now, and everything is listed in NN.

It takes a some time (minutes) until Windows can see all the PCs in Network Neighborhood. Sometimes it helps to connect to the server manually with the command line:
cd \\servername
or
cd \\servername\share

Punching Peers

Post by *Phred »

Welcome to the club, daktari.
For a couple of years now I've had trouble getting one of my XPpro machines to punch into one particular Win7 'peer' machine. Only occasionally can it see/see inside. Usernames/pwds replicated.

The web's full of this trouble, and the reverse, too.

Make sure XP's up to date, with the 922120 KB item properly installed, SP3 notwithstanding. No guarantees, though.

I'd say without much fear of contradiction that this isn't a TC issue. And I appreciate you're not saying it is.

(F2 and Ctrl-R do the same re-read, do they not?)
