When I rightclick a 800Mb RAR file containing 2000+ files, TC8n13 takes up to 10 seconds before TC asks confirmation to unpack. This did not happen with 7.56a, so something changed... Is there a setting to change this behaviour ?
I run Win7 ultimate, 4Gb RAM, 3x2Tb NS disks.
TIA

Hello bop sprengers,
Roman
When you right-click a .rar file, the right-click menu should appear. What unpack confirmation do you mean? When I rightclick a 800Mb RAR file containing 2000+ files, TC8n13 takes up to 10 seconds before TC asks confirmation to unpack.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

How quick is the right-click on other files? This may take also some seconds, depending on your TC-config and the content of the file-depending-context-menu.bop sprengers wrote:When I rightclick a ....

bop sprengers,
If you do right-click onto an archive, you can unpack it only using external archiver. No TC internal unpack commands available via context menu.
When you choose a WinRar command from context menu, TC doesn't analyze archive but just calls WinRar immediately. So only WinRar can waste such ammount of time, regardless of used TC version.

When you right click a file, all the shell extensions for that type (and also all which are registered for all files) will be loaded by Windows. You probably have some 64-bit only shell extensions installed. It seems that one of them takes a lot of time to check that RAR file.
If it bothers you, try using ShellExView to disable extensions until TC is again fast.
