remember directory layout for each directory

remember directory layout for each directory
remember directory layout (brief, full, thumbnails etc) and sorting on per directory basis
My Win 7 installation is pretty virgin, and still I have more than 31000 folders - a lot to keep track of.

There is an Autohotkey script for this:

This incorrect over generalization suggests that you are using Total Commander in elevated mode all the time. Else you would pretty soon learn what error #5 means.kamerunka wrote:it can keep the settings for the folder in the folder itself
Normal users are not allowed to create objects in all folders.
Personally I do not like the idea - irrespective of access permissions - of a software that spreads its personal data across the whole disk in all folders.
So either Total Commander will have to create and update a dedicated file for this, maybe an sqlite3 db in its own folder (%appdata%\ghisler by default), or do what Explorer does, clutter the registry with such data.

The user has created a few user-definied detailviews and stored it with a name.
You could use these as templates and the TC would remember that ones (per user) that deviates from the normal view.
By doing this >user-specific< you exclude the conflict with the right-management from Vista/Win7/Win8.
The average user will not configure 31.000 folders. Even this should not be a performance problem.
The average user has a few standard detail lists for movies, MP3, etc, for which he wants to see automatisation.
Other file managers offer this feature already. This is standard filemanagement nowadays.
I support this request!

And Twinkey does it, by setting a fairly robust folder filter and assigning a view to that filter.
Filter has the options of "Can Contain", "Must Contain" and "Not Contain", as well as Asterix (any char) in the filter.
I've only set a handful of filters, primarily for MP3s and image folder.

It is one of the most important needs to bring forth the thumbnails automatically (or configured) - And even more important: To prevent the unwanted thumbnails in all the other directories.
The first is for comfort but the other one is really annoying.
The first is for comfort but the other one is really annoying.
