Display current quick filter in statusbar

Post by *Lefteous »

Currently there is only an icon which indicates that the current view is filtered. It would be great if the current quick filter could be displayed next to the icon.

What do you think?

I had considered that, but there is simply not enough space - especially in brief view, where almost the entire width is needed for the full details. Quick search filter strings can become rather long, especially with Quick View Extended. Since the filter is only temporary, you should be able to remember in your short time memory what you entered there...

When switching back from another application back to Total Commander I often have no clue regarding the current quick filter. I think a little aid to memory could help.

There is already a setting to configure the status bar - LongInStatus. Maybe you could extend this a bit?
My detailed idea is to add 2 to the current LongInStatus value to indicate that the quick filter value is displayed in the bottom right of the status bar.

(Sorry for writing German at first)

Minimally, it would be worthwhile to move the QuickFilter [icon] in the status bar to the left - for the right panel.
And to display the current filter when you hover the mouse over it as a tooltip.

Optionally, Allow:
1A) Display the current filter to the right of the icon (right panel)
1B) Display the current filter to the left of the icon (left panel)
2A) right panel: right adjust the current file without the redundant empty space separating the filename and extension.
2B) left panel: show the filename and extension together, without the empty separating space.
3) Allow the size/quantity selected files to be right side (right panel)
