TC 8 - 64-bit + HPLX plugin 1.2 by P. Zampach

Post by *kbellis »

Hi,

Before even thinking about beta testing 8, has anybody been in touch with Pavel and / or will his plugin get converted by another kind person?

If not, then I would hope to test the 32-bit version of 8 with his plugin ... but will wait to hear from you or him first.

Thanks so much for making great software :)

Kelly

For ( volny cz/ zampach/ hplx/page1. html ) reference:
( volny cz/ zampach/ hplx/archive/ wfx_hplx.zip ) wfx_hplx.zip (V1.2, 82K, 2005-02-14) Plugin for communications HPLX with Total Commander running on PC. This plugin enables to work with files on HP100/200LX directly from Total Commander using Filer protocol. New in version 1.2: better cache utilisation (in cache is now max. 1024 entries from various directories), window for settings of communications parameters, drives autodetection, automatic installation on TC v6.50+, TC icons for HPLX specific files, fixed bugs. Package also contains the most complete description of the Filer communications protocol - 13 new commands compared with the PAL library.

Out of curiosity I took a look at the plugin, and it seems that porting this plugin to 64 bit is a tough task. The plugin uses the KOL library which is not adapted to 64-bit architecture, so one would have to rewrite the plugin without KOL in order to get 64-bit-ready version…

Hi Flint,

Thank you for the reply.

Bummer about the port.

I guess this thread is okay to stick this little report in since no bugs were found - only good news :)

Update Installation to 7.57 32bit (24.2.2012) from 7.56a went without issue.

HPLX plugin 1.2/GNU works fine

---------------

Installation of 8 beta 21 32bit in separate directory (C:\totalcmd8beta21) went without issue.

TC Help file needs updated - referencing updates to 7.x.

Unclear if existing wincmd.key should be applied with two instances, 7.57 final and 8 beta on same machine - please advise what I should do - copy file to beta directory?.

HPLX plugin 1.2/GNU works fine

Had to manually edit desktop shortcut properties to point back to 7.57, the registered version.

Kind regards,

Kelly

Confirmed - in the section "General Information" -> "Updates&Support" it says "Updates to Total Commander 7.x from a previous version".

Yes, you have to put your wincmd.key in both directories.
