lots of freezes in ftp since a few releases in TC 64

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

lots of freezes in ftp since a few releases in TC 64

Post by *bagou01 »

hi
since a few releases (i'd say two or three), i get a lot of freezes when using the ftp in total commander 64 bits:
randomly TC freezes when the popup displays MLSD then i have to close it in task manager and relaunch it, and it will work (most of the time)

Hello, bagou01.

In order to be able to reproduce your problem a few more details on your environment will be needed and there are a few things which you could try in order to see if they solve the reported problem:
  • Which Windows version are you using?
  • Before using T.C. 8.0 beta 22 64-bit, which was the latest T.C. version which you used and where you did not experience the reported problem?
  • As you state that the hang occurs when a message about the command MLSD appears:
Please, edit the properties of the affected FTP connection.
Go to the Advanced tab und make sure that the option [_] Use MLSD for directory listings has been disabled.
Note that the tick box has got 3 states:
+ grayed = auto-detect (this is the T.C. default unless modified)
+ enabled (tick sign visible) = use MLSD
+ disabled (white background) = do not use MLSD
If the affected connection has been set to auto-detect MLSD then T.C. will try to learn from the FTP server whether it supports MLSD. This negotiation might fail.
Therefore switch MLSD off and try again, please.
  • Please, create and post an FTP logfile which may help find out why the connection hangs.
The setting to do so can be found under Configuration => Options => FTP => [X] Create a logfile: [Path\to\tcftplog.txt]
  • Als activating [X] Use passive mode for transfers for the affected connection may mysteriously solve problems as well.
Kind regards,
Karl

2karlchen: Please put this informations to the TC-Wikis (englich and german), because of every time the same questions and the same answer...

I think your answer here is a good information about the basic testing and configuration steps of Tc-FTP. So, if this is in the Wikis, only a links to this information is neccessary in threads like this one.

It's possible that you have a firewall which does not support MLSD. Try to disable MLSD in the settings of the connection.
