Delete progress bar exceeds 100%

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Delete progress bar exceeds 100%

Post by *Lior Kogan »

8b22, 64bit.

I tried to delete the context of Windows\Temp.
During the deletion I received a dialog box "The directory c:\Windows\Temp\... could not be deleted!.

I pressed "Skip" several times.

I noticed that the percentage or right of the progress bar showed values like 150% and higher.

Confirmed! Steps to reproduce in Windows 7:
1. Enter C:\Windows\Temp (with As Administrator).
2. Select all files/folders (I have 104 files there, 19 directly and others in subfolders).
3. Press Shift+Delete and click All.
4. Repeatedly click Skip and watch the progress bar. Don't click As Administrator!

I've got 322%. :D

This is normal and happens when you delete more files than TC could count. The counting only works in directories which do not require admin rights. You can try Alt+Shift+Enter, it doesn't return any dir sizes either.

I believe it would be better to limit the displayed value to 100%, or to hide it when it exceeds 100%.
Even if this is a feature, this feature looks like a bug!

Agree, counter should show 100% instead of 150% or 322%.

I disagree - it might remain at 100% for a long time, so the user may thing that it stopped working. Values >100% mean that more files could be deleted than could be counted. The alternative would be to count these protected dirs too, which is planned for the long term development (but not so easy to add, I don't want to ask the user for consent just for counting)...

Hmm, I don't really care, but if I were a normal user I'd consider anything above 100% a bug.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Maybe when there are protected dirs, it is better to display files counter instead of percentage counter.
