Lister on XP 64
I just had a really strange display issue with the lister window on Windows XP 64bit.
Here are some screenshots:

All other programs worked fine. The file was plain ansi text. Same on all resolutions.
Don't know if I can reproduce as I only had brief access to the computer.

May be broken font-file 'vgafix.fon' for 'Fixedsys' font?

Could you perhaps upload the test file for us - preferably zipped, so it doesn't get changed during transfer.

I don't think so - look at http://i41.tinypic.com/348hms2.gif - the apparantly missing/blank characters are replaced by the values 3 or 6 - it must have something to do with the encoding of the file.May be broken font-file 'vgafix.fon' for 'Fixedsys' font?

I used a couple of text editors and they all said that the encoding was plain ASCII text. Even Lister in hex mode showed no BOM (screenshot 3 above). Anyway here you are (screenshots included 57kb): http://www.sendspace.com/file/v1fpvipetermad wrote:Could you perhaps upload the test file for us - preferably zipped, so it doesn't get changed during transfer.
Don't know - I did the other view modes in Lister including pressing A (ANSI), S (ASCII) and V (Variable) but all were the same. Other applications had no issues.MaxX wrote:May be broken font-file 'vgafix.fon' for 'Fixedsys' font?

I tried your text.txt in TC 8.0b23 under Windows 7 x64 (both 32- and 64-bit TC-version) and under Windows XP x86 and they all show the file as it is supposed to (like your Notepad).
Unfortunately I don't have Windows XP x64 to check with.

I do. I don't have any problems with the files provided, neither tab.txt nor test.txt (from pack.zip).petermad wrote:Unfortunately I don't have Windows XP x64 to check with.
It may be related to your Russian (?) keyboard layout. Which fonts are you using in TC Lister? Does the same thing happen when you launch TC with a clean INI?
Code: Select all
totalcmd.exe /i="%temp%\fresh.ini"

My language is English and TC was started with a clean INI (first step to troubleshoot) - sorry that I didn't mention these earlier. (Whatever gave you the impression that I was Russian?)Dalai wrote:It may be related to your Russian (?) keyboard layout. Which fonts are you using in TC Lister? I also forgot to mention that TC7 worked fine, just TC8 had the issue. I only had the 64bit version with me at the time so don't know if the 32bit version was ok.
Thanks for all the replies so far - I'll try to get to that computer again soon, if I can, and test again.
Oops, I'm sorry. I mixed you up with MaxX:Giovanni wrote:(Whatever gave you the impression that I was Russian?)

I uploaded screenshots of TC's Lister showing both test files:
MaxX's tab.txt: It looks a little different than on MaxX's screenshot but that may be related to the keyboard layout or the font used in Lister.
Giovanni's test.txt: So there's no problem on my system. I'm getting the same result as your notepad.
By the way: there is no Language Pack installed on this particular machine, it's a clean English XP x64 SP2 installation (using German only in TC). TC 8.0 beta 23 x86 is showing the same result on my machine.

There's CP1251 displayed on my image. What CP did you want me to show?Dalai wrote:Oops, I'm sorry. I mixed you up with MaxX:who is clearly not using English keyboard layoutMaxX wrote:It looks like this:

You have (as I can see from your image) just broken font-files or having problems with displaying font. Try to reinstall them from original setup-cd.Giovanni wrote:work out what it was
Font name is "Fixedsys" and files for it have names like "vga***.fon" (there are files for some of CPs).
