i understand what you mean but cannot see how to achieve it - can you explain a little more

adacom,
He means that it is possible (with external tools like my TCFS2) to hide menu bar and leave buttonbar only with drop-down nested bars instead.

Unfortunately it's very difficult and cumbersome to use the integrated button bar editor in order to create drop down menus. Here is how it works:

1.) Click 'Add' to add a button to button bar.
2.) Click 'Change' and 'Add subbar'to add a new drop down menu to the button.
3.) A browse dialog is opened. Type a file name for the drop down menu (which is actually just another button bar file).
4. A new 'change button bar' dialog is opened. Click 'Add' to add the desired commands to the drop down menu.
5. Press 'OK' to close the dialog.
6. Back in the main 'Change button bar' dialog check 'Show as menu'.
7. Press 'OK' to close the dialog.

i had gone a different route - had a number of different button menus and could go backwards and forwards but your method gives a better - easier result

Try Button Bar Editor, it is perfect to edit multiple bars at once.
