Provide Shooting Date column (for photos)

Post by *jrose6 »

Photo files have a Shooting Date field stored within them. Photo organizer and editing software show this date/time for each photo.

It would be nice to be able to have a column in TC for this field so that photographs could be sorted by shooting date, regardless of when the file was later modified.

Thank you.

It is already implemented - You can just use custom columns and content plugins for this.

It works like this:
1. Get the EXIF plugin from www.ghisler.com (addons - content plugins)
2. Install the plugin by double clicking on it in Total Commander
3. Choose menu Show - Custom columns mode - Configure - New
4. Click on "Add column"
5. Use the "+" button to add a column field, e.g. exif - DateOriginal

Hello! I tried this and got the EXIF plugin installed and I can select Date Original in the program but it doesn't have it for most of the photos and videos, and I know they have the date taken information, because I used another program (NameEXIF) to change it. Would you know how to make it display the date taken? Thanks!

Why not add a built-in capability for output to columns similar to MRT ( [T4][Y].[M].[D] [h]:[m]:[s] ) ?

Have you tried using DateDigitized instead of DateOriginal?

For videos you need to use for example the tcMediaInfo plugin with the EncodedDate field
