I wonder if there is a setting to make TC 7.57a and V8.0 remember the filespec you type in when you press plus on the numpad to tag a selection of files?
Example: If I type in *.exe and no *.exe files exist then TC defaults back to *.* when I open the next folder to check for the same filespec.
In other words, can TC remember the filespec I entered regardless of if the files exist or not?
This is reproducible:
1) If avi files exist in a pane then tag *.avi
2) Then when no *.txt files exist enter *.txt
An error dialog will appear saying no such files exist and *.avi will be back in the tag dialog entry box, instead of *.txt
Is this a UI fault or is there a setting to control this behaviour?

Yes, perhaps it was unintended behavior.MVV wrote:It seems that mask becomes default only if it was found.
Norton commander remembered the filespec that was typed.
Thanks, that is another workaround that I was not aware of.wrote: foxidrive,
Maybe it will be better to use filter (Show - Custom...) instead? So TC will show only files that match mask in all folders of that panel until you change/disable filter (or restart TC).
