HOw to hide Drives in TC

Post by *sncdoc »

I'd like to hide two drives that have just recovery data and some tools in TC. I have one PC with XP and it doesn't show the D: recovery drive but in my Win 7 I can't figure out how to hide the D and E drives. Anyone know how?

There are even 2 possibilities by adding an entry to wincmd.ini:

DriveBarHide=DE (Allows to hide certain parts of the drive bar, but are still accessible)
Allowed=C\ (List allowed drives only -> restrict drive access! "\" means network)

Thanks for the info. I'll try both so see which I like best.

Is there a place that shows possible entries into wincmd.ini?

sncdoc, if you're talking about place where all INI settings are described the answer is YES. Just press F1 in TC and open help section 4.b.

But if you don't need to see theese drives at all in Win7, you may simply open Disk Management (or use mountvol console command) and remove drive letters for those drives (not drives itself, only mount points).

Great information. I am currently a new Win 7 user and am in the process of moving all my applications from XP to the new Win 7 computer.

Same has place for XP too.

Also you can change any drive letters in Disk Management (except system drive).
