HI!
I'm experiencing a problem with Total Commander 8.01 x64. It crashes everytime I try tu view something with lister. No matter what I try to view. Out of curiosity I tried the x86 version since I used the dual installer, which didn't crash. All this is on windows 8. Anyone experienced something like this?
TC crashes when trying to use lister on windows 8.

Shame on me. I didn't think of that. It doesn't crash when I use it with alt+shift.Hacker wrote:avada,
Do you use any Lister plugins?
What happens if you use Alt-Shift-F3 to view a file?
Does it happen with a clean ini?

Although its a bit baffling to me. Why does it crash with anything if I use it normally. For plain textfiles it shouldn't use any plugin. In the matter of fact it crashes with a plain empty file without an extension.

There are plugins which make sense for text files, e.g. syntax highlighting or editor plugins.

Yes, but I don't have any at the moment.ghisler(Author) wrote:There are plugins which make sense for text files, e.g. syntax highlighting or editor plugins.
As it turns out Imagine was guilty. And even that only with the not recently updated archive plugins.
Imagine is not a text plugin so I'm not sure it should be able to do that. Also what's a bit ominous that TC also crashed when I wanted to reinstall or uninstall Imagine within TC as a WLX plugin.

Imagine is looking at the content of a file to decide whether it can load it or not. Your text file must have contained a special marker which made imagine "think" that it was an image file, e.g. the JFIF text contained in Jpeg images...

It happened with a plain empty (extensionless) file too, which I only created for testing. Although if it looks in every file as you said, then the crash is not surprising. Well, for the using lister part anyway. For installing I have no idea why would it get loaded.ghisler(Author) wrote:Imagine is looking at the content of a file to decide whether it can load it or not.
