I also noticed this behavior happens sometimes. Usually exiting and starting the program solves it but right now I am having the problem and CANNOT get the spacebar press to show size.
I played around with the ini file, reinstalled Total Commander, etc. still no help.
Why does this bug occur intermittently?

This can happen when the background thread is busy doing other things, like extracting per file icons (e.g. for EXE or LNK files), loading overlay icons etc.

In my case it was more complicated in that I discovered the INS key was also not behaving correctly. What ended up correcting this was shutting down the computer and then restarting (logging off and on again did not do it). Neither did unplugging and replugging the keyboard.
I guess there was something screwed up with the keyboard that needed a hard reset to correct.
