MTP folder can not by synced

Post by *CITYGUY »

As of recent Jelly Bean was introduced. Android decided to change from UMS to MTP. So this is going to be often.

I need to use Total commander to sync my sd card folders to my pc folders.
I can see the phone as an MTP device. In Total commander I can open it from Commands/Open desktop folder.

But sync is not possible.

I am sorry if this is not the right place for this topic. I didn't want to put it in the Android section, because it is about all MTP devices.
Please, move it if necessary.
It is just that now with this new Jelly bean the UMS is going to be abandoned and all of these devices will go to MTP

Please, advise is a solution is possible.

Sorry, it's not possible to get the file size and timestamp from MTP this way - there is simply no function to get them. Therefore sync would be useless.

You can try to use my MediaAudio2 plugin, which uses MTP directly. Unfortunately I get very different results from device to device. Some devices work just fine, but on others folders are reported as files and other ugly things...

Thank you! I will try that. I hope I don't get ugly things:-)
meanwhile I am syncing through Clockwork Mod Recovery. But all my files are one hour exactly "younger" because of the daylight savings time. Zs there a setting in Total Commander that I can set to calculate this 1 hout difference into all the files timestamps? This would be so useful! :-)
Most of the times I was wondering if TC can do something I found out that it has it and I hope that this is one of these cases.
Please, try to help!

I just tried the MediaAudio2 and it works without ugly things, but:

1. This time all time stamps are off by exactly 2 hours.
2. This is not fast as USB storage connection. I think it is ftp and threfore not the same speed.

I really need to be able to sync just because I use big files. Like NAND backup. Maps of navigation and Titanium backup folders which are massive in size. So syncing saves me from copying everything again and again.

But this times tamp difference is killing me. If the TC had an adjustment factor for the daylight savings time it would have been sweet! I would only expect to find a setting like this in Total commander. Never anywhere else.

1. Some devices report the time as local time, others as GMT (standard time). Unfortunately there isn't any function to determine what a server sends. :(

Thanks for the reply!

But just for all people who have sync issue during daylight savings time change, add a "manual time correction" somewhere in the Sync dialog.

This is something I am sure many will use.
Hope that you agree...

Edit: I have these time stamp offset troubles many times when syncing between ftp and local data. You must have had this too. Such a setting will help and I hope it is not too difficult to make.

As I said : Total Commander is the only product in which anybody could expect to find such a fine tune option. This product deserves to have this tool too among the many other great ones.
