System freezes with TC and DeepFreeze when zip unpacking

Post by *Arcanez »

I experienced the same Thing twice now. System freezes while extracting zip archives with TC. The whole Systems freezes everything you Launch after TC froze will Crash as well. That's ridiculous. No application on ist own should be able to Crash the whole operating System...

I had a zip file list that I tried to extract but I had to restart because TC crashed. The really annoying Thing about this Crash bug of TC is that I run Deepfreeze on my Windows 8 meaning whenever TC crashes all files are gone as well...................

I used to extract files to a thawed space with TC but when TC crashes all files are deleted automatically cause you must restart the machine. TC locks up your whole Computer which sucks teh ballz.......

[mod]Thread split from win8 crashes.

Ever thought about a compatibility problem of Deep Freeze itself?
http://www.faronics.com/products/deep-freeze/enterprise/ features &Specs wrote:System Requirements
Deep Freeze requires Windows XP/Vista/7 and 10% free hard drive space. The Deep Freeze Configuration Administrator and the Enterprise Console require Windows XP/Vista/7 to function properly. Information on Faronics Core system requirements can be found in the Faronics Core user guide. The hardware requirements are the same as the recommended requirements for the host operating system.
I do not read anything about Windows 8.
Also an standard application may not crash the system in such a way, a software package like Deep Freeze can for sure do such things.

no it's definitely TC's fault because the System only crashes whenever I extract zip files with Total Commander. The Progress Bar in TC stops for no reason and TC completely freezes and also the whole Computer gets locked up. Restarting the Computer is the only way to fix this error.

Deepfreeze btw is compatible with Winddows 8. So far there's only a beta version out but I didn't experience any issues with it.

It must be an issue of TC because the System freeze only occurs when I extract files in TC

Did you notice this issue also while Deep Freeze is disabled?

I am currently extracting zip files in TC while in frozen mode of Deepfreeze. So far it is working. I found as soon as my download Folder gets bloated and you have a huge list in TC it tends to Crash but if you have less files listed in TC it's good to go...

I'm not quiet certain but Deepfreeze Container file get bigger the more changes occur on your harddrives. Everything will be saved into a filesystem instead of being saved to the real disk...Might have something to do with it maybe but I actually doubt it...

Also the TE describes the same Problem in Windows 8 and I don't think he uses Deepfreeze as well. Also for me at least the System freeze ONLY happens while you extract with TC.

Haven't tested extracting files while in thawed mode of Deepfreeze so far...Can't tell

The thread starter reported a silent crash of TC while overwriting files or viewing files.
He did not mention zip files or that the system becomes unstable after this.
Sorry this is a complete different bug.
I actually doubt it
Is it so difficult for you to reduce the possible reason by temporarily disabling a beta software?
