Would it be possible to get for the Renamer a delete all til or from position function.
How would it look?
Something like this.
Image: http://tweakers.net/ext/f/0BjWOF8oxHw7vSgL4W72ww6q/full.png
How dose it suppose to work?
This is typical example i would find, if i wanted to rename files.
"[Group] Series name 01 (1280x720 Blu-ray Flac) [18b7e8c4].mkv"
How would it work?
You have this:
[Group] Series name 01 (1280x720 Blu-ray Flac) [18b7e8c4].mkv
[Group] Series name 02 (1280x720 Blu-ray Flac) [ag76554b].mkv
[Group] Series name 03 (1280x720 Blu-ray Flac) [e56b87ae].mkv
Delete till position 8: Image: http://tweakers.net/ext/f/WKNums4SNOXRPJUaNQuBeuI6/full.png
You get this.
Series name 01 (1280x720 Blu-ray Flac) [18b7e8c4].mkv
Series name 02 (1280x720 Blu-ray Flac) [ag76554b].mkv
Series name 03 (1280x720 Blu-ray Flac) [e56b87ae].mkv
Delete from position 14: Image: http://tweakers.net/ext/f/HZm8Bcw3brNt4Ck2417ShtFj/full.png
You would get this and are done.
Series name 01.mkv
Series name 02.mkv
Series name 03.mkv
Edit:
Stupid, have the BBCode tags Image: and%20then%20display%20only%20the%20URL,%20whats%20the%20point?%0AYeah%20yeah,%20you%20have%20always%20idiots%20that%20post%20unwanted%20images,%20but%20they%20are%20not%20more%20then%20a%20annoying,%20but%20now%20a%20post%20are%20harder%20to%20read,%20and%20you%20still%20get%20to%20see%20the%20image%20if%20you%20klick%20on%20it.%20%5Bimg%5Dhttp%3A//tweakimg.net/g/s/frusty.gif

[Renamer] Delete all til or from position function

File extension deletion can be prevented by using the [E] checkbox in the Search/Replace section of MRT. This was introduced indeed because of files with multiple dots in the name, like some.movie.with.lots.of.dots.in.filename.wmv
I agree on your suggestion being easier to use, but maybe it would introduce some drawbacks, like the maximum length of all names would have to be determined before the dropdown is properly filled with the maximum possible etc.

If it would, it would only be sporadic i think, and then there is always the old way to fall back on.I agree on your suggestion being easier to use, but maybe it would introduce some drawbacks, like the maximum length of all names would have to be determined before the dropdown is properly filled with the maximum possible etc.
Don't see how that helps me really, that one dose just weird stuff, don't even get the function of that one, and is also not listed in the help file.HolgerK wrote:You should try the "[N#-#] Range" button.
Don't worry about live ... Just live it ... It is not permanent anyway!

It's an simple UI-Helper to build the [N<Start>-<End>] selection string, simply by marking the characters you want to keep, using the the mouse or shift+cursor.
Okay it's the opposite of yours suggestion (Selecting instead of Deleting a character range), but in contrast to your suggestion it's an already existing solution.
