calculating dir size w/ spacebar

Since about 1 week, selection of a directory with the space bar doesn't do anything anymore. It worked before, it calculated dir size. I didn't change any settings, but I checked the setting anyway, and the option 'calculate dir space after pressing space bar' is ticked.
Is this a common problem in v.8.01 64bit final?

It can happen when the background thread responsible for calculating the dir space is busy with other things. The thread also loads icons, overlays and thumbnails, and copies thumbnails in the thumbnail database. Some virus scanners can make the loading of icons very slow, so it can take a while until the thread gets to calculate this disk space...
