[Run DOS] Replace cmd.exe with ConEmu?

Post by *yetanotherlogin »

Hello

I have two questions about the "Run DOS" sub-menu:

1. When selecting "Command > Run DOS", I'd like to run ConEmu instead of XP's cmd.exe.

Can TC be reconfigured to run another application?

2. Is it possible to assign a shortcut to that command, so I don't have to reach for the mouse just to open a DOS box?

Thank you.

TC is using the COMSPEC variable to determine what to run.

But you can define an internal command em_conemu to start your command, and then add this to the menu file wcmd_xyz.mnu.

Latest ConEmu versions provide "Default terminal" feature.
That means, ConEmu can intercept start of any console application from any GUI application (TotalCmd too).

Also, I know that "NOCLOSE.EXE" may be configured to run ConEmu, but not sure this is fit your question.

Thanks for the help. I'll read up on COMSPEC and wcmd_xyz.mnu+em_conemu, and check how to configure ConEmu so that it'll be called instead of cmd.exe.
