Unrequested file deletion

Post by *onsager »

TC 8.0.1 32bit, Win 7 Professional:

Create an empty directory 'p1_files' + a single file p1.html at the same level. Delete 'p1_files'. This also deletes the unselected (!) p1.html.

This happens also with a non-empty directory. For example, this error can occur, when saving websites locally with Firefox (this operation puts css files in a automatically created directory following the name convention, cited above).

This is not a TC bug but a Windows "feature"! See this thread.

Thanks, but:

The author states in this thread:
This only happens when deleting to recycle bin. When you delete the files directly (Shift+Del), TC will only delete what you selected.
This is not, what is happening here - even with Shift+Del both entities are deleted.

Any chance that you've checked "[x] Use Explorer delete method (faster, cannot handle comments)" or you are deleting the file from an virtual folder like "\\Desktop"?

That's it, thank you. I'm hating this kind of pseudo-intelligence in software (no, not TC).

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
