Windows 7 hidden folders

When I go to the USER directory on Windows 7 I am missing a lot of directories. I have changed all the folder view options to not hide system files and folders etc but I don't see a lot of the folders on the C drive in TC but I can see them all in that dreaded WE. What am I missing here?

So you have enabled "Configuration->Options...->Display->Show hidden/system files (for experts only!)" in TC and you still cannot see all folders? Can you give us an example of such folder?

Ouch, Only been using it for 16 odd years. Updated a PC and forgot about that one. Ta I just couldn't work out why. Cheers John

windows 7 home Premium SP1 64bit

I actually have this problem of not seeing all the files/folders in TC8.

here is my system32 folder in TC8:

It is really strange, TC can't hide any non-hidden folders. Please check if you have ignore list enabled (Configuratiob - Ignore List).

Also keep in mind that System32 folder contents can't be 100% identical in TCx32 under Win7x64. But not so dramatically. Actually, you should see absolutely the same contents in System32 and SysWOW64 from TCx32.

Press <Ctrl+S> and remove the quick search filter "dr"

That when I was filtering o drivers folder.
The issue is still there though.

I removed Search filter
The issue is still there though.

This is c:\Windows\System32\drivers\ folder in TC with very few files showing up. Definately not all of them listed (only 9 items):

can you go to your c:\Windows\System32\drivers\ in TC and see if you have a complete list of files?

You really should read MVV's posts more carefully.

You are using a 32Bit TC with a 64Bit OS.

Windows has two different System32 folders:
One for 32Bit processes and one for 64Bit processes.

While a 64Bit program always sees the real System32 folder, the System32 folder visible for a 32Bit process is redirected by Windows to the SysWOW64 folder.

To show the same directory content like (64Bit-)Explorer in (32Bit-)TC you must open C:\Windows\Sysnative.
Or simply use the 64Bit version of TC.

I do not think it matters. 64 vs. 32 in this case.
Something prevents it from displaying the entire list of files.

Your etc item under C:\Windows\System32\drivers is just a fake item that TC shows for you, the rest is quite the same as I wrote before.

13.01.10 Added: Windows Vista/7 64bit: Show fake "etc" directory in System32 which shows contents of SysNative\etc because many people don't find the correct location

Have you followed the link in my post? It REALLY answers your question. That topic was specifically created to answer such questions, you only need to read and understand it (and you really need until you use any 32-bit program under 64-bit Windows).
