Retain change date for files when up/downloading to/from FTP

I have noticed that when one up/downloads files to/from FTP the date gets set to present day and time rather than files original date and time. However, because of this TC's Compare Directories function does not show a reliable result. It will show a file as changed even though it is the same file.

I can see that FTP does not have a create and a change date as does the file system. However, I was wondering if it was possible to get TC to set the dates of files when they are uploaded to FTP so that the FTP date is the same as the change date of the original file and the other way around setting the FTP date as the change date of the file when it is downloaded. In this way the Compare Directory could work.

One should check Preserve file dates in up/download dialog. The option might not be present in upload dialog, in that case the server does not supports required commands.

Ah, I now see that there sometimes are this option in the actual transfer dialogue window and if missing I'll have to take it up with the admin of the server then.

I guess then that the only thing to wish for would be a general FTP option that would check the "Preserve file dates" option so that it would be default behaviour (when it was possible) -- the same way that you can set the general option to always up/download in background for FTP.

But at least you can select it for each individual transfer which is great. Thanks!
