How display wpd, txt, doc, graphics files in Preview pane?
Hello,
Unable to preview any documents in Windows Explorer 7 except .docx, a Search informed me of the existence of separate file management programs (TC and DO). Despite reading about their features, I'm still not certain about my main current issue: does Total Commander display wpd, txt, doc, docx, html and graphics files in a Preview pane?

Hi Weston,
TC is a dual-pane file manager and you can indeed use the opposite pane for previewing the currently focussed file (shortcut to use is Ctrl-Q). Some of the file types you mention can be previewed with TC's native Lister (like txt and some graphics), others can be previewed after installation of a (free) plugin. The only file type I'm not sure of is WPD, is this WordPerfect?
Regards, EricB

Yes, it's WordPerfect, which does not preview Word files. After many happy years with WordPerfect, still my favored word processor by far, I've only begun saving files in Word recently, and I'm hating almost every minute of it.
I'm in the process of including, excluding, or deleting files from my huge old directories into new, more selective directories, and without being able to preview them, it's taking me much too long.
I guess I'll download either the trial version or the paid version of TC, depending on whether the trial version includes everything that's relevant to this. I know there are other valuable features, but this is the one I need right now.

The unregistered version is exactly the same as the paid version. Except that at the unregistered version at start of the program you must click a number on the splash screen to continue.Weston wrote:I guess I'll download either the trial version or the paid version of TC,
So please download Total Commander without registering it and try it to see if it has the functions you need before you buy a registration key.

Thank you Henrie and Amba for your help.
I've installed the 64-bit version of TC and now I've located this download site for "Ulister" though I don't know how it integrates itself into the TC program, or if there's a better way for me to enable myself to preview the file types I need to see.

Need more help
I'm not able to see WordPerfect files in Total Commander.
I installed ulister, but I may have put it in the wrong place.
Can someone tell me where TC and ulister should be placed in my directories?

Navigate in TC to the downloaded ulister package and press enter or double click on it.
You'll be asked to install the plugin.
After installation navigate to the document in TC and press F3 to view the file.
But looking at the readme.txt inside ulister you will need to download additional package from Oracle to view files.

Right now uLister is a subdirectory inside the totalcmd directory:
C:\totalcmd\wlx64_uLister_4.0.0\*.*
Clicking on the uLister opens:
formats txt
pluginst inf
readme txt
ulister ini
ulister wlx64
Clicking on ulister wlx64 - Windows does not recognize the file type and needs to know what program to use to open it.
My problem is magnified by my difficulty with Windows 7. Should totalcmd by in Program Files? Program Files [x86]?
