Mapped drives - not listed in TC?

Post by *foxidrive »

Total Commander, Version 8.01 64 bit, Windows 8

My issue is that a mapped drive was not listed in TC.

I had TC open copying some files, and opened a second instance of TC.

I used a command to map a drive from a second PC in a cmd prompt launched with admin permissions.

NET USE G: \\desktop\c

and was asked for credentials and the command completed sucessfully. I could log G: and perform a DIR and see the root directory.

Normally when I do this the drive letter appears in TC and I can copy etc from the mapped drive.

In this instance G: drive did not appear in TC's list of drives. I closed that instance of TC and reopened a new TC window and G: drive was still missing.

To quote Professor Julias - "Why is it so?"

Because the administrator context is different from normal user.
Drive mappings are not global.

foxidrive,
Your Explorer shouldn't also show mapped drives if they were mapped in elevated command prompt.

Thanks to you both. Question solved.

I must have done it without admin elevation when on my own PC.

Cheers
