+[TC8.50b2] BG copy processed MB flickering
Look at ***/*** MB (it's flickering).

(sorry for quality, my webcam is too slow to see flickering clearly, but it is still noticeable)
IRL it looks like every second/third frame seems to be lost.

So far I cannot reproduce it. What exactly are you doing? Is this a normal F5 copy operation, or a download, or something else?

just a regular background copying from d:\ to e:\
TC 8.50 b2 at Win 7 x64 SP1
2siealex
AMD Athlon II X4 @ 3 GHz
Radeon HD7770 GHz Edition + CCC+Drv. 13.04 WHQL
12 GB DDR3
HDMI 1080p monitor
Not so "slow", you see...
And no such problems anywhere else. I guess that's VSync or some kind of dropping frames' text overlays... or something else, don't know...

Strange... may be new tooltip makes some effect, but I can't see this anymore in 8.50 b3.

I see from your video, that you use the legacy/classic WinXP theme in Windows 7.MaxX wrote: just a regular background copying from d:\ to e:\

Have you tried an Aero theme, and does the flickering happens there also?
(The legacy XP theme is known to have issues, not displaying the shadowy drag'n'drop icons, for example. Perhaps your problem is a theme-related issue, too...)

I did indeed some optimization:
08.09.13 Fixed: Background copy dialog: Try to reduce flickering (when using no theme) in "bytes copied" field (32/64)

Thanks.
I didn't read change log yet, so didn't know if it is good.

don't have any other problems with this theme, aero is not available (some services are disabled)

I did a quick test in a virtual machine (VMWare Player) with Windows 7 Ultimate x32, and using the current TC 8.50 beta 3.
The flickering of text (displaying the bytes copied) is still very observable -- but only during text updates in in the classic WinXP theme. The default Win7 Aero theme does not exhibit the flickering.
While flickering might be explained because of the slow VM, it is remarkable that only the classic WinXP theme flickers, not the Aero theme...
EDIT: I had a brainfart and wrote bullocks, corrected now.

Aero uses double buffering by itself becaue it's actually a 3d surface on which each window is drawn. You can see this when you do Win+Tab.

Yes, DWM double-buffers, that's the reason why the DWM-based themes can "smooth out" the drawing process of the bg copy dialog. What i tried to say is that the current beta 8.50b3 still flickers, despite the improvements noted in the history.txt.
@MaxX: It shouldn't really matter whether this effect can be reproduced on a virtual or physical host, unless you suspect a dependency with your particular system configuration.

Yes, b3 now only refreshes them when they change, not every time when the percent bar changes.
